 中国人从毛泽东时代的清教徒生活堕入到灯红酒绿的花花世界后,他们怎样从思想上解释这个转变呢? 从理论上看这二者是水火不相容的,男女都穿着四个大兜蓝制服的毛泽东时代怎么能够容忍袒胸露背的花天酒地生活呢? 看来中国人非摈弃毛泽东的道德观。

令人惊奇的是中国人没有这么做,他们将毛泽东的道德观与毛泽东时代深恶痛绝的资产阶级没落腐朽的生活方式结合在一起,创造了具有中国特色的社会主义.

为了说清这一点,我们做一个中国行。

从你下飞机起,走遍山川城乡,市镇里巷,碰到的出租汽车司机、亲戚、朋友、同学、官僚、教授、工人无一不是的站在道德制高点上,感情激昂地对世风糜烂,人心不古的中国现状愤怒地抨击。你去到书店,图书馆,翻开名人传记,读到的几乎都是毫不利己,专门利人,勤俭朴素的用雷锋道德,孔夫子教训混杂而成的圣人。你出席哀悼会,听到的都是一个个鞠躬尽瘁,死而后已的人民的好儿子。除了法律上被定罪的已关的犯人以外,如果到处都是道德高尚,忧国忧民的人民和官员,那么被万民怒指的害群之马在那里呢?

这似乎是一场只有军队没有敌人的战斗。

假定你又有幸在这个国家多待上一段时间,于是奇迹出现了,你发现这个被抨击的敌人就是这支愤怒的军队自己。

也就是说腐败人就是抨击人。这个国家的人民已被中国的孔孟道德、雷锋道德、共产道德、搞得大智若愚。以至脑子中除了管理毫不利己,专门利人,勤俭朴素的部分尚在工作,其它部分皆因长久不用而失灵。但是实际生活和社会为他们提供的成功之道,又正是与这些高尚道德格格不入的罪恶之路。于是他们不得不生活在对立和分裂的状态中,去取得实际的成功,又同时从道德世界上获得心灵的平衡。

这就形成了他们一边大骂社会的腐败,同时一边利用他们可以达及的腐败高度进行腐败的奇特局面。这个社会的齿轮就在腐败润滑油的滋润下充满活力地转动着:司机在用车腐败, 售货员在用售货腐败;教师在用教书腐败;警察在用法律腐败;官员在用权腐败;医生在用治病腐败。

这是一种什么心态呢?难道本身进行腐败而大骂腐败,就没有不诚实的犯罪感? 要理解这一点,首先要知道经过共产党几十年统治的中国人已不可能是沉沦于思想和行动的迷圈中找不到出口的哈姆雷特。他们可能是行动的的巨人,但他们不可能是思想的巨人。他们的思想长期被共产党的中宣部承包了,每天在精心构思的对共产党有利的好消息的熏陶下,已经习惯于说的、听的、报纸上的、电视和电影上的必须是好东西,如果有人将火车站上车时抢坐位的实际情景拍到电影中,他们会立即说这是诬蔑新社会的大毒草。因为他们已经习惯于电影上看到整齐,明亮和有次序的火车站。这种说的、写的、看的不同于实际做的,发生的,已成天经地义,也就导致当今中国人道德与行为的分裂症。

如果说当代中国人的语言、思想和行动是逆反的,那么他们行动时是怎么想的呢?

老子给认识人切几块好肉,这算什么,卖肉的说。

我不利用好票挣些外快,这日子怎么下去,卖票的说。

人家尊重我,给我送礼,我当然应该格外尽心。医生说。

教师也是人,当官的都捞,为什么我不可以,教书的说。

红眼病,你们要有我的权,捞得比我还凶呢,官员说。

我冤枉啊,大家都在腐败,为什么就捉我呢?关在监狱里的说

这些实际行动时的思想和语言是拿不到台面上去的,也从不去到正式场面上。在正式场面,或者与朋友说起国家大事,道德行为时,他们就还原成毫不利己,专门利人,勤俭朴素的用雷锋道德,孔夫子教训混杂而成的圣人了。

如果有人认为他们在实际行动时的思想和语言才是他们的心理话,他们对腐败的指责,对国家的担忧都是假的,那就错了,这二种截然不同的思想和语言都是他们的真心话。只有理解了这一点,你才真正懂得了中国人道德与行为的分裂症。

尽管大家都在腐败,而且有他们正当的理由和苦衷,但是不管是贪官,是老百姓都不喜欢你说他们腐败。会议上、报纸上、书本上他们都喜欢自己被描写成像雷锋,孔夫子那样的圣人。看到自己的名字与这些崇高的词连在一起,他们心里美滋滋的。根本不在乎那里描写的根本不是他们自己,而只是根据枯燥的教条编造的千篇一律的故事。

中国的国家历史,个人传记就这样被这些可畏的道德教条吞噬了。真正的历史和有血有肉的生命被黄河长江之水淘得干干净净。

于是,我们就有了一个全民道德圣人,全民腐败,全民不服气,全民愤怒,全民立刻可以成为犯人,全民立刻可以成为政府的道德模范,全民看不到希望想移民美国的奇怪社会。

Or you go to the bookstore, the library, read the biography of the celebrity, everyone is not selfish, specialize benefit to other peoples, and is the saint mixing the Lei Feng morality, with the Confucian morality. Or you attend a mourning meeting, you hear all departed are dedicated, heartily of the people's good sons. who have done their best for the people. Then where are the black sheep that the people are angry at, if there be everywhere, people and officials of high morality and concern for the country?

This seems to be a battle with the army only and there is no enemy found. Suppose you have the privilege of staying in this country for a while, so it's amazing, you find that this attacked enemy is this angry army itself.

That is to say, a corrupt person is a critic. The people of this country since they were born have been hearing Confucius ethics morality, the communist moral, Lei Feng moral, unless caught in the prison, otherwise, everyone thinks himself is the moral model. They are also using these morals to judge others and to evaluate the society. But the ways of real life provided to the success are precisely the opposite of these noble morals, so that they are doing things contrarily to the noble moral to achieve success, no one think this is contradictory, they feel that life is the actual battlefield, moral is a theoretical battlefield, they have to be the winner in both battlefield.

This has led to a strange situation in which they curse the corruption of society while taking advantage of the corruption they can reach. The gears of this society are vigorously rotating under the nourishment of corrupted lubricants: the driver is corrupted by the car, the salesperson is corrupted by the sales; the teacher is using the teaching corruption; the police are using the law corruption; the official is using the power to corrupt; the doctors are using diseases to corrupt, while everyone is cursing at others for corruption.

What kind of mentality is this? Is there no dishonest sense of guilt to blame corruption and to make corruption at the same time for the same person? To understand this, we must first understand that Chinese people who have been educated for a long time by communist and everything appear in newspaper, TV, movie, a novel must be good things, everything their talking and listening must be good things too, otherwise, they are the lie. Therefore, if someone takes a real photo from a train station, dirty, dark and crowded, they would say it lying since all the train station they see from newspaper and TV is neat, bright and ordered. The saying, writing, seeing is different from actually doing, occurrence, already become natural righteousness and a cornerstone of contemporary Chinese morality.

If the language, thoughts, and actions of contemporary are reversed for Chinese, what do they think when they act?

I give the best meat to the acquaintances, so what? said the butcher.

I don't use the good ticket to earn extra money, how can I go on this day? said ticket seller.

People respect me and give gifts to me. Of course, I should be extraordinarily dedicated. The doctor said.

The teacher is also a human, and the official is corrupting, why can't I, said teacher.

Red Eye, you have my rights, you are more aggressive than I am, officials said.

Injustice! everyone is corrupt, why only punished me? said the prisoner.

The thought and language of these practical actions are not to be taken up on the surface, nor to the formal scene. In the formal scene, or with friends to talk about state affairs, moral behavior, they will return to the model of Lei Feng Morals.

If some people think that their thoughts and language in actual action are their psychological words, their accusations of corruption and their concerns about the country are all false, then you are wrong. These two very different ideas and languages are all their true words. Only by understanding this point, you really understand the schizophrenia of Chinese morality and behavior.

Although everyone is corrupt, and all have their legitimate reasons and difficulties, whether corrupt officials or ordinary people do not like you to say they are corrupt. In meetings, in newspapers, in books, they like to be portrayed as saints like Lei Feng and Confucius. They were pleased to see their names linked with these noble words. There is no concern that the description is not their image at all, but a stereotyped dummy that is fabricated according to moral dogma.

China's national history and personal biography are thus swallowed up by these awesome moral doctrines. The real history and the life of flesh and blood are hidden under the rigidly moral temple, never seen by the sun, they are gone with China's mother river, the Yellow River and the Yangtze river, never back.

Therefore, we have a country with universal moral saints, with all people are corrupt, with all people are not convinced, with the whole people angry, with whole people can immediately become prisoners, with the whole nation can immediately become a moral model of the Government, and a strange country whole people do not see the hope, wish immigrate to abroad.
